Thread-based chat app
This was a concept I was developing for a thread-based chat app.
Benefits:
- Better Communication:
- Deeper
- Focused
- Organized
- Uninterrupted
- Zero friction knowledge base
- posts are meant to be written in long-form, so you can write them the same way you would a blog post or wiki entry
- Q&As record which answer was the best and show the entire process of problem resolution in the question and comments

Benefits: Knowledge retention Organized + focused discussion
Like Stack Overflow + Slack for efficient, organized teams. Turn your team’s chat into a knowledge base. The best parts of email and Slack combined. Bring focus and clarity to your team communications. Organized discussions for focused teams. Team communication without the noise. Increase the signal to noise ratio of your team chat.
Use a font with interesting ligature between characters for the chat heads
Once upon a time there was___ Every day ____ One day___ Because of that___ Until Finally _____
Once upon a time companies were using group chat for all of their communications
Every day they would log into slack, talk and
Ideas
- Focus mode - make a discussion go full screen by double-clicking on the thread preview, or pressing a full-screen button on the thread reader
- Follow Channels
- spotlight style shortcuts
- reader mode - flip through old discussions and announcements that are deemed important
- tags
Promotion tactics:
- Get open source software communities to use it.
- Especially ones that decry the knowledge lost to chat rooms.
- Find people asking "what should I use instead of slack" on social media.
